200,000 square metres of nature, since 1927

Meet a koala, hand-feed kangaroos and engage with a large variety of Australian wildlife in Lone Pine's beautiful, natural settings.  Guests experience happy, healthy animals and engaged staff, as well as the opportunity to support conservation and enjoy educational opportunities.

Lone Pine is now open, as a part  Latest COVID-19 update of 'Re-Opening 3.0'. Pre-bookings are essential:  For more information click    HERE

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was established on naturally hilly terrain and in order to maintain the integrity of the landscape, not all hills within the sanctuary are suitable for unassisted wheelchairs. Alternate routes are available for guests with limited mobility (see map below). Some areas of Lone Pine are unpaved, such as our two kangaroo reserves and sheepdog/barn area. These areas may not be suitable for all wheelchairs.

It is highly recommended that all guests wear suitable footwear. Shoes must be worn within the sanctuary and high heels are not recommended.

Please see the map below indicating the locations of stairs throughout the sanctuary. This map will also be provided to guests using wheelchairs upon arrival to Lone Pine.

Wheelchair Hire

Lone Pine has a limited number of wheelchairs, which are available for hire at our ticket entrance. A wheelchair can either be reserved by calling at least 24-hours prior to your visit or booked directly at the Entrance on the day (depending on availability). All guests who choose to hire a wheelchair will be asked to sign a liability waiver and pay a maintenance fee of $6. Please refer to our accessibility map prior to your visit if a wheelchair will be used.

Mobility Assistive Devices

To maintain a safe pedestrian environment and ensure animal welfare Lone Pine does not allow most wheeled vehicles within sanctuary grounds. Bicycles, tricycles, scooters, skateboards, roller skates and similar modes of transportation are not allowed. Personal mobility devices such as prams/strollers, wheelchairs and electric mobility scooters are allowed. Guests using approved personal mobility devices are asked to exercise extreme caution at all times whilst navigating sanctuary grounds. Please see section on General Accessibility to help plan your day if using one of these devices.

Assistance Animals

Certified guide, hearing or assistance animals are permitted within the public access grounds of Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, including the Riverside Café and outdoor cinema areas. To meet quarantine requirements for Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, guide, hearing or assistance animals may not access the grounds beyond the ticket entrance. Approved handlers with certified guide, hearing or assistance animals may make pre-arrangements to hold their animal at Lone Pine’s wildlife hospital and receive a free of charge entry for a friend/family/support person. To make arrangements, call us on +61 7 3378 1366.
