You will be required to provide contact information on arrival via a QR code platform, before entering the sanctuary or dining in at Riverside Cafe. This is a Queensland Government requirement.We ask that you do not visit Lone Pine if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, including but not limited to; sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath, fever. If you present with symptoms or display symptoms during your visit, you may be asked to leave to protect the safety of other visitors and staff. Do not visit Lone Pine if you have been instructed to self-isolate for any reason, including:
- Recent travel
- Contact with a confirmed case
- Awaiting test results for COVID-19
We ask that you practice good hygiene at all times during your visit and adhere to social distancing requirements. We encourage you to download the Australian Government’s COVIDSafe app to assist with contact tracing.

Yearly Passes:
Lone Pine yearly passes which were activated* and current as of 26th March 2020 will receive a 6-month extension on original expiry date.
For example, if your pass expires on the 15th June 2020, it will now expire on the 15th December 2020.
*Activated = yearly pass has commenced and you have a Lone Pine member photo ID card.
This does not include e-tickets/gift vouchers for yearly passes which have not yet been redeemed. See below.
Online Tickets:
Tickets purchased via our direct website (www.koala.net) BEFORE 5th June 2020 will receive a 6-month extension on original expiry date.
Original confirmation email (stating date of order) PLUS Lone Pine e-ticket must be presented upon entry to redeem extension.
If you have purchased a ticket via a third-party reseller (i.e. Travello, Viator, Expedia, Experience Oz), please contact them directly for assistance.
Gift Vouchers:
Official Lone Pine gift vouchers purchased BEFORE 5th June 2020 will receive a 6-month extension on original expiry date stated on voucher.

Do I need to wear a mask?
As a COVID-19 legal requirement, you will be asked to provide contact tracing details before entering Lone Pine. Please follow all signage instructions on arrival.

What cleaning/hygiene practices has Lone Pine put in place to address COVID-19?
In addition to our regular cleaning procedures, we have added:
Dedicated staff to conduct regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces and high-touch points throughout the sanctuary. Employed the services of contract cleaners to conduct hospital-grade disinfection of the sanctuary. Appropriately spaced out all sanctuary seating to ensure social distancing.Installed Perspex “sneeze guard” barriers at all point of sale locations.
We also encourage all guests to make on-site purchases using card/EFT facilities.
Will you have hand-sanitising and washing stations available?
Yes. Additional hand-sanitising stations have been installed throughout the sanctuary. Hand-washing stations are also available at multiple locations.
How will social distancing be maintained?
Floor stickers marking out appropriate social distancing have been placed throughout the sanctuary, in addition to signage reminding guests to observe social distancing requirements. We will also have dedicated staff on-site each day monitoring guest behaviour and ensuring safe social distancing is being practiced.
Will koala holds and photos still be taking place?

Koala hold/photos: Guests can hold a koala and have a professional photo taken. Only one person in the group may hold the koala. Tickets are available from the main koala exhibit. $25/per family of up to four people.
Touch a Koala: Guests can meet a koala, touch its fur and take photos on their own devices. Tickets are available from the main koala exhibit. $15/per family of up to four people.
Photo opportunities are not available for pre-booking. All photo opportunities can be purchased from our main koala exhibit on the day of your arrival. To find our main koala exhibit, please see the link for our sanctuary map.

• Lorikeet Feeding – spectating only. No handling of the feed dishes
• Sheep Dog and Free Flight Raptor show - limited capacity to ensure the Queensland Government social distancing requirements are met. Wearing of hats and sunscreen is strongly advised.
• Free Flight Raptor show– during construction of a new undercover seating area, please note there will be no seating during this time. Wearing of hats and sunscreen is strongly advised.

What are the current COVID-19 regulations within our dining areas and cinema lawn?
Our Riverside Cafe area is limited to 40 seated guests at a time. Social distancing is encouraged and seating/tables are not to be moved. Our staff clean the area hourly and after each seating with hospital grade disinfectant to maintain cleanliness. Guests dining in will be required to check in via our QR-code platform provided at the cafe.
Gatherings on our cinema lawn area are to follow all relevant Queensland Government restrictions. The new restriction is now up to 20 people in public places.
What staff training has taken place?
As a part of our re-opening requirements, all retail staff have been required to complete COVIDSafe training through TAFE Queensland. All staff have also been consulted on the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary COVID-19 Workplace Health and Safety Management Plan, and specific cleaning training has been provided for all staff undertaking cleaning duties.
